A Little History on Nikki Foxx
Let’s be honest—you don’t discover Nikki Foxx… you survive Nikki Foxx.
Bursting onto the Chicago scene in 1989 like a sleaze-soaked Molotov cocktail, Nikki Foxx were the self-proclaimed bad boys of the Midwest—and they meant it. Loud, wild, raw, and completely unapologetic, they were the kind of band that showed up with a bottle of Jack in one hand and a middle finger in the other. But behind the chaos was a band with serious chops and an attitude that couldn’t be ignored.
Led by the one and only Lee Razor (aka Haze Lee Finn, aka Lee Philip—whatever name he was answering to at the time), Nikki Foxx brought a sound that blended glam, grit, and dirty streetwise rock ‘n’ roll. Alongside Razor was a killer lineup: Lenny Vitale on guitar, John Davidson pulling double duty on bass, vocals and keys, Brian “Strutter” Martin on second guitar, and Mark “Spyder” Pyszka on drums. Together, they weren’t just a band—they were an experience.
The Foxx boys were unpredictable, unfiltered, and 100% in it for the music and the mayhem. Whether they were tearing it up in clubs or opening for big-name acts like Cinderella, David Lee Roth, Ratt, Warrant, and Great White, Nikki Foxx left a trail of sweat, sleaze, and unforgettable shows wherever they played. And the fans loved it.
Their reputation caught the attention of the Chicago Rocker, who named them “Best New Hard Rock Band” in 1990. Lead vocalist Lee Razor came in second for “Favorite Hard Rock Vocalist” in ’91, and by 1992, the band was crowned “Favorite Hard Rock Band” overall. Not bad for a group of wild Midwestern rockers with no filter and no intention of slowing down.
And now, in 2025, If You Ain’t Been Foxxed…You Ain’t Been F**ked! brings that whole wild ride back to life. This CD combines their two original demo releases: the first three tracks come from the 1989 cassette If You Want It…Touch It, while tracks 4 through 11 are from their 1991 self-titled demo. There’s even a sleazy, swagger-filled cover of Sonny Bono’s The Beat Goes On. Song titles like Dirty Girls, Do Ya Wanna Do Me, Touch Da Monkey, and Donna Wanna tell you everything you need to know about what you’re getting into.
If you were there back in the day, this disc is going to bring back some serious memories—and maybe even a dirty secret or two. And if you weren’t there? Well, buckle up, because Nikki Foxx is about to show you exactly what you missed.
The Music: Sleazy, Rowdy & Unapologetic
From the very first riff of "Dirty Girls," Nikki Foxx makes it crystal clear—you’re in for a filthy, fun, unapologetically sleazy ride. This track is pure hard rock attitude, oozing with groove, swagger, and a vibe that would’ve set fire to the Sunset Strip. Sleazy vocals? Check. Lyrics that’d make Tipper Gore cry? Absolutely. And the bass breakdown in the second half? My god—it had me grinning from ear to ear like a maniac. It’s one of those rare moments where you can actually feel the bassline. The solo? Melodic, dirty, and straight-up singable. It's a damn near perfect opening.
"She’s Got It All" comes in hot with pounding drums that’ll get your feet tapping and your hands smacking your knees before the first riff even hits. It’s sleazy, it’s gritty, and it screams early ’90s from every angle. That classic Nikki Foxx vocal delivery oozes charisma, sleaze, and fun. The lyrics hit all the right themes—party life, women, and full-throttle rock excess. But honestly, that’s the vibe across the entire album.
And let me tell you—as someone who LOVES Sleaze Metal and Hard Rock in all its lipstick-smeared, leather-wrapped glory—Nikki Foxx hits the sweet spot. The attitude, the look, the sound, the lyrics... it’s all there. Just take one look at the guys on the front cover and you know your speakers are about to get violated.
"Millions of Dollars" keeps that momentum going with a wild, live-party feel and another massive, chant-along chorus. The guitar work here is a sweet mix of gritty and melodic—it’s everything you’d want from a song about sex, money, and rock 'n’ roll.
Now, not everything’s perfect—track #5, "Psycho Emotion," has the right idea, but it feels like they’re trying just a little too hard to dial up the chaos. It’s not bad at all—it’s still got that sleazy edge—but compared to how effortlessly the rest of the album pulls it off, this one feels like it’s missing a little of that natural swagger.
No biggie though, because things snap right back into place with "Do Ya Wanna Do Me" and "Big Nasty." Both are loaded with gritty riffs, sleazy hooks, and that classic dirty groove that Nikki Foxx does so damn well. This is where the album hits its stride again, and from here on out—it does not let go.
Then we get to one of the absolute standouts: "The Beat Goes On," a sleazed-up, hard rockin’ cover of the Sonny Bono classic. That bass and drum intro is so catchy it practically yanks your ears to attention. When the vocals kick in, it’s game over—it’s an unexpected gem that totally works. The whole track has a playful, sing-along vibe, and those little kissing sound effects sprinkled throughout? Absolute perfection. It’s the kind of weird, fun detail that only a band like Nikki Foxx can pull off and make it feel natural.
But THEN… oh yes… then comes the crown jewel of the entire album: "Love Canoe." This one is just magic. I’m talking sing-along verses, huge choruses, and a melody so sticky you’ll be humming it for days whether you like it or not. Everything clicks here—vocals, guitars, the whole arrangement. The solo is just the cherry on top, breaking things up beautifully before launching back into the glorious chorus. This track is a stone-cold classic waiting to be rediscovered. My personal favorite, hands down.
Closing things out are "Touch Da Monkey" and "Donna Wanna," and they keep the vibe rolling strong. More sleazy lyrics, catchy riffs, and enough attitude to close out the party the right way.
Final Thoughts
Nikki Foxx might not have been a chart-topping household name, but with If You Ain’t Been Foxxed…You Ain’t Been F**ked!, they’ve delivered a high-octane, no-holds-barred sleaze rock assault that could go toe-to-toe with any of the era’s biggest acts. This isn’t some watered-down glam rock knockoff—it’s the real deal. It’s sweaty, raw, hook-filled, and completely irresistible if you’ve got even a drop of sleaze in your rock ‘n’ roll soul.
Every song (okay—almost every song) is packed with attitude, swagger, and grit. The band sounds like they’re having the time of their lives on these tracks—and as a listener, it’s infectious. The basslines are groovy, the riffs are thick and dirty, and the vocals just ooze that sleazy charm we all love so much.
FnA Records did us all a solid by putting this collection back in the spotlight. This is a must-hear for fans of everything from Faster Pussycat to Pretty Boy Floyd, from L.A. Guns to early Ratt. Nikki Foxx belongs on your shelf—and in your ears.
So go ahead. Pour yourself a drink, crank this bad boy up loud, and prepare to get Foxxed.
